Adventures In Learning Colby Sawyer College Spring 2024
I’ve received approval on the Spring Float Tube Class through Colby Sawyer Adventures in Learning. The Spring 24 term begins mid-April and concludes at the end of May. The format will be 5 classes with a 6th set up in-case we get poor weather. Classes 1 & 2 will be fly tying classes where we will tie some of the patterns we will fish. Class 3 will be a rod rigging/casting practice and float tube orientation on land or in the big gym at the college if weather is poor. This class is critical because it makes the two fishing classes much better with no wasted time explaining things we just rig up and get you out fishing. If everything goes well and we don't have rain we could fish the day set up as a rain date as a bonus class.
Everything is included in this: NHFG will allow me to use the following: Rods, reels, waders, pfds, float tubes, fins, and everyone will get a waiver to fish when they are with me so if someone doesn't have a fishing license they can still fish during the class. If you have your own gear and want to use it that is fine too.
Fly tying classes will be similar to the ones offered before with AIL but we will target patterns we will be using in the ponds we fish. Equipment and materials are all provided and people with their own equipment are welcome to use it tying and fishing.
The timing works well on this class because trout ponds open up the last Saturday in April. I have some local spots that usually are producers we can go to within 30 minute drive from campus.
Having run classes at a few local ponds and we have had some great times fishing and catching BT. Additionally, will know more on which ponds we will fish on what dates but we will all meet up at the school and head out from there. Other than our fishing days we will shoot for a 5-7pm or 4-6pm class. Fishing days we will be in that time frame but allow for travel. All that we will work out.
More details out on this in January but all signs point toward a popular class with a limit of about 10 students.
