Adventures In Learning Colby Sawyer College Spring 2023
Ever wonder how some fishing flies came to be? This class will dive into the history of streamer flies in New England and New Hampshire. The class will focus on both NH and NE and where these patterns were developed and fished.
Much of the NE and NH history surrounding the art form of fly tying has been lost. For years it was and continues to be passed down by word of mouth. As a result, many of the fly patterns that were tied by these fly tyers have been forgotten. Every once and a while someone generates interest in an old pattern tied by a regional tyer but for the most part their tying methods and patterns have disappeared. The greater NE area has a unique history and connection to streamer flies and this class will focus on uncovering much of its lost history.
Part of each class will include a demonstration of a fly being tied as the history and techniques are shared.
